I’m a big fan of Ghibli animation, and Howl’s Moving Castle is one of my favorite films. As a tribute to Studio Ghibli, I created my own version of a moving castle using hard-surface modeling techniques.
The model is not a 100% replica, as I discovered through frame-by-frame analysis that the castle’s design changes slightly throughout different scenes in the film. This fluidity is part of its charm; the castle is alive, and its form shifts as the story unfolds. The biggest challenge was balancing creative interpretation with staying true to the original concept. I had to invent parts that weren’t fully shown while maintaining the overall outline and personality of the castle.
